Northern Thailand

Thailand Outreach Dec-Feb

I had the honor of leading an outreach team to Thailand with my co-leader Becca! We had 5 DTS students on our team and we saw God move in amazing ways! First, we arrived in the northern city of Mae Sai. Where we partnered with YWAM Boarders to do all kinds of ministry in the surrounding villages. Christmas parties, house visits, teaching English, youth groups, church visits, and helping with the coffee harvest. We saw many healings, deliverances, and made many friends. It was during this time that I started to see spiritual warfare like never before. The local witch doctor made an appearance at one of the Christmas parties we hosted. During the party, we saw a few healings, but right after the guests went home, half of our team suddenly got very sick. Thankfully, we recovered in 48 hours.

The biggest challenge I faced while leading the team in Thailand was actually when my dad was life-flighted to Reno and almost died because he had blood clots and fluid in his lungs. As much as I asked the Lord to let me go home, He continued to reassure me that Thailand was where I needed to be at that time. The Holy Spirit alone gave me the strength to continue His mission in Thailand.

After we spent a month in the north our team took a 24 hour bus ride down to

Khao Lak in the south of Thailand. While we were in Khao Lak our primary ministry was teaching English in a Moken village and local schools. The time we spent with the kids in the village was so sweet! A few of the kids and their parents gave their lives to Jesus while we were with them. We also heard that 6 kids got baptized soon after we left. This is a village that we have sent teams to in the past and will continue to invest in. There are enough believers in this area now that some of the local missionaries  are making plans to plant a church. There, they can continue teaching the new believers about the gospel and discipling them. I have also heard reports that the new believers are starting to evangelize their friends and disciple one another. Hearing this news made me so happy, I was in tears. I often hear from our contacts in the North and South of Thailand that the impact from our trip is still spreading. God is so faithful to use the things we brought and multiply it beyond belief. He is doing big things in the hearts of the people in Thailand and I encourage you to pray for the growing body of believers there. Every member of our team including myself encountered God in ways that were transforming. I can't wait to see where God leads each one of us as we move forward in pursuit of Him.

Recuperate & Graduate Mar-May

After returning from outreach we reunited with the team that went to the Middle East. It was time for a debrief, graduation, and also a celebration of all the things we have seen God doing during the DTS. After sending the graduates back into the world to find God’s will for their future, the staff team came together for a week of debrief where we could talk through the more difficult and painful experiences. This was a healing time for us. After our time together I was able to spend some days alone with the Lord praying about my future. There were some housing complications that led to me fully moving out of my apartment and onto base, then moving everything back to my apartment in Massone. Once all these things were sorted out I gradually transitioned from DTS Staff back to

Content Creator. At the end of April I filmed my friends’, Lucas & Sonia’s wedding. It was a beautiful time of celebration that I really wanted to be present for. Once the wedding celebrations finished up I caught the first flight home. I finally got to see my family again after all the trauma we had experienced after my dad had nearly died. This was a time full of tears and healing. I spent the month of May visiting and connecting with my supporting partners while I caught myself up on all the things God had been doing in their lives. My cousin, Savanah, married her now husband, Lance, on May 24th and I was thrilled to be able to celebrate with them! I also found some time to rest and gain some good perspective on the last year as I prepare for another year of missions.

Beach Day with Students

What’s Next? June-

As I returned to Italy I felt refreshed and was so excited for all the things God is going to do this year. I can see so clearly how His hand was on everything last year and now I have some vision of what He is planning. In June, our base was busy. We were preparing to run our first ever Missions Experience. Partnering with a group called Revive Europe. We facilitated a two week camp that includes a week of personal revival and training, followed by a week of outreach. This camp was designed to create a way for Italians to experience what the life of missions could be like without the financial and time commitment of a DTS. This camp is still finishing while I’m writing this, and already it is a huge success. I saw 11 participants have their lives changed, as they sat in classes learning about the Father’s love and the Holy Spirit’s power. I can’t wait to hear the stories when they come back from outreach! I couldn’t join the outreach because I needed to get some dental work done before the other camps and schools get started later this year.

Prayer Points

Some of the ministries I plan to be involved in are: the Kingdom Camp, a Ukraine Trip, and a Staff Training all happening in August. I will also be helping with a mini DTS in October as well as the DTS in September and the DTS in March. I would truly appreciate your continued prayer that God would continue being my Ezer and provider. I know that I wouldn’t be able to do any of these things unless He was with me every step of the way. Also pray that the Lord will bring all the finances I will need. Lastly, I am waiting for my residency card to come in the mail. I’m technically not aloud to travel while I wait for it.

If you would like to partner with me financially, please use the link below or contact me for more options.

Blessings to all! Thank you for reading my newsletter!

Ci vediamo dopo,

Josiah Potter
